In Lenya CMS, a task is used to implement a process which can be invoked by the user. Tasks are triggered from the sitemap using a TaskAction or scheduled using a TaskJob.

Typical tasks are

publishing a page,
exporting a page to a live server,
manipulating a file,
sending an e-mail, or
creating a backup of your site.
