Out of the box, Apache Tomcat is not configured for optimal performance. In this session, attendees will explore the impact of a variety of performance tuning strategies, including 1) tuning and monitoring the Java Virtual Machine (JVM); 2) disabling reverse DNS and unnecessary connectors; 3) compiling native connectors; 4) tuning connector settings; 5) reducing logging; 6) tuning database connection pools; 7) Removing unneeded applications; 8) precompiling JSPs; 9) Caching JSP output; 10) turning off Jasper's "development" mode; and several other important strategies.
