Track Chair Responsibilities

Track chair responsibilities are as follows:

  • Subscribe to the planners@apachecon.com mailing list and follow discussion there. Send email to planners-subscribe@apachecon.com to subscribe.
  • Figure out who the track chairs are for related or concurrent tracks. Introduce yourself to them, and discuss how you are going to resolve content conflicts, and how you are going to share and cross-promote content. (Note that sessions can be "tagged" in multiple tracks if desired, for ease of cross-promotion.
  • Provide a schedule of talks that will fill your track
  • Promote this track to your topic community, both inside, and outside of the ASF.
  • You, or one or more people you designate, will attend each of your track sessions, during which you will:
    • Welcome/introduce the speaker
    • Provide technical support for speakers, or notify the Conference Admins when you are unable to do so
    • Monitor the chat during the session, either answering questions or relaying them to the speaker at the appropriate time.
    • Identify spammers or otherwise disruptive people, and report them to the Conference Admins
