ApacheCon NA 2013

Portland, Oregon

February 26th – 28th, 2013

Welcome to ApacheCon, the conference for people who build the technologies that drive the Internet!

It's all over!

Thanks to everyone who spoke, helped, attended or sponsored ApacheCon. We had a blast, thanks for helping make it so!

Most of the slides are now available online, if you might be able to help with linking the slides to the talk abstracts of Lanyrd pages please drop by the apachecon-discuss mailing list

All sessions were video and audio recorded, we expect to get our hands on the raw recordings around a week after ApacheCon, and they'll hopefully be posted 1-2 weeks after that.

Nearly There!

We had a brilliant BarCamp yesterday, and the Hackathon is ongoing as we write. The Apache clans are gathered, and the conference proper opens tomorrow with Jim Jagielski's State of the Feather talk. Join us!

Social Media at ApacheCon

How do you keep up with what's going on at ApacheCon? We had some demand for a CrowdVine site and so it has been created on a trial basis. We are already well-represented on lanyrd.com, which so far looks like the clear favorite of users. Both sites let you view the program, set up your own personal schedule and chat with other delegates. You can even access them from your mobile devices.

Community Events at ApacheCon

Sunday Feb 24 sees BarCamp ApacheCon in Portland! Then on Monday there's the HackathonNA13. Other community events are listed here, with Meetups here. On the Friday and Saturday after the conference you can join the various project hackathons.

ApacheCon NA Moves South!

This year ApacheCon NA moves a few hundred miles South from our last event (Vancouver, Canada) to Portland, Oregon. Home to many technical conferences, Portland is dubbed the Open Source capital of the USA; ApacheCon will be conveniently located in the heart of downtown - a quick MAX light rail trip from the airport, and easily accessible to many of the city's attractions

Format

The official conference, trainings, and expo of The Apache Software Foundation (ASF), ApacheCon draws Open Source users, developers, gurus, students, novices, community managers, and enthusiasts to address today’s issues, opportunities, and solutions focusing on the ASF’s nearly 150 projects and initiatives. ApacheCon North America takes place 24 February-2 March 2013, starting with pre-conference trainings, BarCamp, and hackathon the first two days; main conference + expo 26-28 February; followed by post-conference sprints, workshops, and team building events.

Who Should Attend?

ApacheCon is for everyone! Anyone interested in Apache products is welcome: ASF affiliation is not required to present at, attend, or otherwise participate in ApacheCon. Whether you are a Committer to a project, an enthusiastic user wanting to pick up new tricks, a system administrator who needs mastery over configuration or simply someone who needs to understand the latest developments in depth, this conference is for you.

ApacheCon is a great way to meet the individual contributors behind your favorite Apache projects! It’s an ideal opportunity for technologists currently developing Apache-based solutions, as well as those interested in committing code to an Apache project, contributing to the Apache Incubator, or enhancing their Open Source products and community practices.

The conference should be of relevance to a wide range of companies and organizations including those from state and local government, bioinformatics, healthcare, financial services and scientific establishments.

If your job title is Chief Technology Officer, Chief Information Officer, Vice President or Director then you need to be at ApacheCon to learn about the important technologies on which the Internet (and lots of private systems) depend every day.

Stay Informed!

Keep up-to-date on the latest developments by subscribing to announce@apachecon.com and following @ApacheCon on Twitter. Please be sure to tag your tweets, photos, blog posts, etc. with the #ApacheCon hashtag so we can find you!
