** NEWS 

- 2000/02/28
    - OCS based content subscriptions has been implemented.  Only XMLTree has 
      been tested but other content feeds should work fine.  This is a 
      significant addition and we are 2/3 towards of the way towards a Release
      Candidate.
    - Still waiting for artwork.
    - Individuals can now logon and at least begin to create their own 
      customized portal.  The subscriptions (true/false) needs to be done as 
      well as making these preferences persistent.
    - Misc bugs in mass content subscription have been fixed.
    - Moving mailing lists and CVS repository.  In order to keep in step with 
      other Apache projects, mailing lists and CVS will be moved over to 
      java.apache.org.  This will allow us to have a jetspeed-dev and 
      jetspeed-cvs mailing list as well as a java.apache.org CVS repository that
      I can manage user accounts on.

- Introduce Portlet API
- Provide a working implementation of Portlets in Cocoon, RSS, FileServer, raw 
  XML and an Applications Portlet.
- Implement input and output content feeds with Open Content Syndication 
  (http://www.internetalchemy.org/ocs)
- Full integration with Turbine, uses screens, navigations, layout.  Uses 
  Turbine user authentication.

- Add support for Projects.
- Re-introduce messaging with Mail-XSP as a web application and integrate my 
  prior messaging support.
- iCalendar support
- Discussion Forum support

** RELEASE SHOWSTOPPERS: (verbose definition in TODO)

- Improve documentation (see DOCUMENTATION-TODO)
- Ability for individual users to subscribe and browse portlets.
- Fix caching under JDK 1.1.8 (see TODO)
- Meta search engine (/content/static/search.html) needs to be improved.  Needs
  someone with HTML/JavaScript knowledge to look at it.
- Artwork (logo, and misc icons (Portlet close, minimize, maximize, edit)) needs 
  to be done and integrated into Jetspeed.
- Website needs to redone.

- Implement discussions as Portlets.
- iCalendar code into CVS
- Web GUI for iCalendar
- Project code into CVS
- Project code interface implemented as a Portlet
- Disk space cap on PersistentDocument cache
- Define and publicize RSS 0.92 format which should be similar to Slashdot 
  style weblog.
