The mission of the Apache OpenOffice project is:

To create, as a community, the leading international office suite **that will run on all major platforms**.

The [porting project][1] is responsible for ensuring the widest platform coverage. The following platforms are currently supported:

- Windows (2000 in OpenOffice 3.3.0 and earlier, XP, 2003, Vista, 7)
- GNU/Linux (x86 and x86-64, RPM and DEB based Linux distributions)
- Solaris (x86 and Sparc)
- Mac OS X (x86 and PowerPC)
