+ add the necessary @includeExample directives so that the two module swfs referenced by the ModuleLoader tags are included/compiled and rendered in the ModuleLoader example.  

I guessed that all the mxml files which exist in the example folder would automagically be compiled and so my example would work.  However, looking at the current ASDoc that is not the case.

The mechanism works more like how the pre_compile.sh shell scripts work in mustella - files are not compiled unless explicitly included.
