Overview

Welcome to the Apache Bluesky project! The Blue Sky Distance Collaboration System(BSDCS) Project is committed to network multimedia transmission and the application of network multimedia technology such as the Distance Education in the Linux environment.

BSDCS is a suite of distance collaboration applications built on open source. It includes three interrelated parts. Distance Collaboration System can synchronously live broadcast and share of presider scenes, and offer real-time interaction between presider and participants by means of text and audio/video stream. In practice, these features improves application performance of Distance Learning, Video Conference and Remote Assistant. BSDCS also offers two media players(For Linux and Windows, separately) and a resource share & management platform to facilitate users of difference institutions to share resources. The platform can also be used to share and manage other resources. In one word, BSDCS is such a system that fully breaks through time and space limitation, offers personalized and vivid interaction, makes the resource update, sharing and management easy. Its system struct can be showed as the following picture:

  • Real Class System (RCS) - Based on Linux platform and open source technology, Real Class System uses IP Network as platform of transmission.
    Function of the system:
    • Multimedia Classroom: synchronously live broadcast and share of teaching scene
    • Real Time Multimedia Interaction: offer real-time the interaction between teachers and students in the way of text and audio/video stream
    • Scenic On-line Stream Media Courseware Recording: teacher scenes and contents of the class are recorded and can be used on VOD systems

  • MERSMP is a massive resorces of sharing and management platform. It is a resources distributed storage platform, utilize resource directory centralized management strategy to support retrieval services for user. Learn more about MERMP.

The above mentioned technologies provide a full infrastructure for developing and running SOA based applications. They are not dependent on one another and can be used independently.

Please join us to create a simple, practical, extensible SOA infrastructure to address the problems that large-scale applications and service networks are faced with. We look forward to your participation.

Copyright ? 2006-2008, The Apache Software Foundation Apache Bluesky is undergoing incubation at The Apache Software Foundation (ASF), sponsored by Shaanxi Key Laboratory of Satellite-terriestrial Network Tech.R&D. Incubation is required of all newly accepted projects until a further review indicates that the infrastructure, communications, and decision making process have stabilized in a manner consistent with other successful ASF projects. While incubation status is not necessarily a reflection of the completeness or stability of the code, it does indicate that the project has yet to be fully endorsed by the ASF.
