[MAVEN-1855] Remove old download links
Update docs to prepare for 1.1 release.
Update docs for maven 1.1 RC1

o fixing typo. patch supplied by Henning P. Schmiedehausen <hps@intermeta.de>
o call them install archives because that's what they are.
o the distributions are now distributed as tar/gzipped and zipped bundles and not a JAR file.
o fixing the link to the maven distributions. reported by Bert van Brakel.
o first pass at updating the getting started documentation. basically removing out-of-date info and replacing with minimal explanations.
o Getting rid of references to IA installers because they suck.

Adding a note about building from CVS HEAD if B3 doesn't work for you.

Moved the documentation into the appropriate directories: start and ref. This is because I am about to commit the change that enables a separate navigation.xml (formerly xdocs/project.xml) file on a per direcotry basis.
This form allows you to request diffs between any two revisions of this file. For each of the two "sides" of the diff, enter a numeric revision.
