How to create spec pdf: 1. Assemble all book files: titlepage.fm License.fm Acknowledgements.fm jdo*.fm Apendixes.fm Backcover.fm 2. Open the book file jdo.book and all other files. Be sure to open the text file so that any missing fonts are substituted. 3. In jdo.book, delete the previous main text file jdo.fm Right click on the jdo.fm entry and select Delete. Then from the main window menu, choose Add/Files... and select the new file to add. 4. Open the main book content file so that any missing fonts are substituted. For drafts, change bars on assertion conditional text shown (Special/Conditional text => Show/Hide ...) For final version, change bars off (Format/Document/Clear all change bars) assertion conditional text hidden Change version to remove "Draft" in footer of documents 5. Edit the date in the footer of the master pages of the TOC, LOF, LOT, index, Appendix to match the date of the main content file. Note that the index has multiple master pages; the date must be changed on each of them. After editing the master page, return to the body page so that the changes are reflected there. 6. Update book. Select book (top level entry in tree view of book). Then do Edit/Update book. 7. Turn off change bars in TOC and other generated files (Format/Document/Change Bars). For some reason, they get turned on during generation. 8. To delete blank pages, Special/Delete pages (last menu item). 9. Generate pdf With the book file open and selected, choose File/Save book as; Save as type: pdf; File name: Change to desired name, changing extension to .pdf Click Save Review the options in the PDF Setup for Selected Files dialog. On the Bookmark tab, in the Bookmarks Expanded through Level box, select None. Click Set to generate pdf. If the bookmark entries are incorrect, check the following in the Bookmarks tab of the PDF Setup dialog: - Correctness of the entries in the list of included paragraphs - The Bookmark Level of IndexTitle, LOCtitle, LOFtitle, TOCtitle, appendix, and chapter should be maximum leftmost. (Caution: clicking the left arrow when an item is already at the left boundary causes other high-ranking tags to be demoted!)
